A Heroes Death
After fighting through heavy resistance
at the cost of his mate a veteran Piat sets up for a kill.

Tired from the hard climb and general
fighting conditions but in beautiful position he lines up his target.
Our boys cannot move forward till the threat is dealt with. The guns on that Lynx provide their infantry with huge close support and would tear attackers to shreds at this range. |
Hearing the small arms at his side and
rear the german commander becomes concerned.
Hans, somthink ist der going on behind
us.
Ack!!!, Vas ist dat???

Jolly good shot Kitty ole bean, make

Still fighting on, the Jerries respond
viciously with a hail of gunfire.
Here we see whats little remains of
"Kitty". Sad, a hero such as he reduced to a hand and half a
torso...
Inspired, an anonymous leutenant draws
his pistol for the final push.
Notes
I found it interesting that the piat had no problem firing at that angle. It is often told how a piat cannot fire down as the projectile slides forward out of firing position.
